  1. I feel completely idiotic for even asking this, but well I'm just a lawyer. So if we "drop" a ball, it will "fall" at a speed of 9.8 metre per second squared. But if I understood the video correctly, in reality the ball does not fall down at all, the Earth merely "catches up" to it. But then why does it work exactly the same way at the same time in Australia and in New York? The Earth cannot be "catching up" in all directions simultaneously -- otherwise it'd be expanding in all directions like the universe, but we know it does not.
