@andym9571 Nothing to do with Montgomery. Montgomery had zero jurisdiction over the Airborne or Air forces. They were under SHAEF command, headed by Eisenhower.

There were no real German flank attacks to speak of by the time XXX Corps linked up with the 82nd on the 19th.

Brereton's insistence on the skies being clear for his 3 days of drops, which ballooned into a week due to the weather, prevented proper ground attack air support.

They didn't ignore the photos. The photos only showed a few obsolete early war tanks of a training battalion. This battalion was irrelevant in the operation.

@gandydancer9710 Patton's thunder? Patton has sat out most of the Normandy campaign, while Montgomery was the C-in-C of all allied ground forces including American. Before Market Garden began, Patton had already been failing to take Metz. He wouldn't take Metz until November. Patton achieved comparatively little in comparison to Montgomery. Patton also only ever commanded one army at any point. Montgomery was an Army Group commander at the time, and in late December 1944 was commanding FOUR armies, including two American. Patton was small fry compared to Montgomery.
