  1. The Assad government is a secular government. Women don't have to wear head scarves or burkas unless they want to. If the western backed rebels took over they certainly would. I don't believe Assad is some evil demon. I've listened to his speeches. He speaks excellent English. Assad was elected with over 90% of the vote and 70% of eligible voters both in Syria and outside of the country voted. The Syrian people want Assad, it's the west and the Saudis that don't.
