I love that you covered this. Automation isn't going to make mankind obsolete. Would you rather dig a septic tank with a backhoe or shovel? Automation is a tool. I just can't get wrought up about being replaced by robots. I've worked on jobs where I had to do mindless shit for hours at a time. I'd rather let robots do that. Then I can charge more for the things they can't do, or at least I can take more personal satisfaction from what I do knowing that a machine hasn't been devised that can do it.
