We DO need money. No one ever talks about Rent and how that effects money.

@hisky. People who argue that capitalism is good actually mean what others call socialism.
14
I try to listen to Wolff... He makes me dizzy...
14
@krejados1 Good catch... I do remember it as 71 sometimes 72...
9
It developed when it had a real manufacturing advantage... Into what?
8
@donho526 I do like Norton. He keeps with Hudson ortodoxy.
7
@Crapitalism I think others would call it capitalism or real capitalism.
6
He sticks with the script... He reads and listens to genious and is eloquent as fuck.
5
@joefer5360 I suppose so... When money was made, no one ever saw it until the accounts were settled at harvest time. Industrialization change that... Real capitalism is like letting the people who make things keep what they make... Money lended at interest is known in some circles as 'dead capital' and it sucks the life out of makers.
5
@krejados1 We have real things so it isn't ALL overhead.
4
@ The rub is that those who call themselves capitalists describe an economic system that those who call themselves socialists call socialism... Time to listen to those who describe this in detal like Michael Hudson.
3
It would be better if we don't thank him but take the tools and make it for ourselves.
3
He sticks to the orthodoxy that gets you there.
3
@Crapitalism There is a difference between industrialization and deindustrialization... I tend to think capitalism is where we do industrialization.. People who identify as socialists define industrialization as socialism in the same way that people who identify as capitalists think industrialzation is capitalism...
3
@AnetaMihaylova-d6f I do... I feel like Wolff don't really understand or I wouldn't feel dizzy listenting to him...... I got a copy of 'destiny of civilization' in my bag. This video presentation take after 'super impiralism' which got soaked in a house fire mid December.
3
@AnetaMihaylova-d6f I don't know those guys... I do like Ben Norton who's video is cliff notes for Hudson's ideas.
3
@perfectallycromulent There IS and HAS BEEN a stock market bubble for years, propped up by bunches of stuff including the fed buying private bonds... There is a limit to how high this flatulence can go even with such props.
3
@donHooligan 'Such a sensitive boy.
2
@MundaneDave Thanks for the complement.. Valuations are certainly outsized compared to the on the street economy. Could you describe what the CARES Act is providing you can get the description past the machines?
2
@MundaneDave Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act... What you are saying is that most of that money was stollen by billionares?
2
@ China taking early steps of western impiral powers in industrializing, protecting their industries. I have a book in my book bag that was a lecture compainon from China by Michael Hudson... In english it is called 'destiny of civilization'. The original version was in Chinese... Hudson says that the Chinese revere economic degrees from western universities and shun realistic economic paradigms.
2
@donHooligan Yep... We do... The rest of the world needs food soverenty as well..
2
@donHooligan Wasn't that the same Mattews that dumped the crap from his bus into our Chicago River? ... Not a huge big deal... Needless to say, the Sahel project got some issues.... Functioning on French franks ain't a good idea... I don't really know that much about it but I certainly wish them well.
2
@bu5761 Pinche US economía funciona mucho tiempo. No mas.
2
I suppose this is a sumary of Super Impiralism... Many of us need to hear the cliff notes from time to time.
2
@johnl405 I don't think Wolff knows what he is talking about. Norton follows settled orthodoxy.
2
@tinaforbes1059 Perhaps it is borring to hear that the sky is blue for a time but you got to listen to it until you get the consept... Science is, after all, a matter of description, prediction and proscription...
2
@donho526 Killing the host brought out entirely too many emotional issues with me. Sometimes I am surprised I survived reading it although I do have a real stong constitution. 'Destiny of civilization' is an easier read and not that intelecually challenging like 'super impirialism' which got soaked in a fire two weeks ago.

Isn't there any poems about flatulance?
1
@PhiloSurfer I was a parrot in my last life.
1
@donHooligan Next time I will avoid you.
1
@somethingwelovet2188 The trick is to keep the commons in commons hands. Examples: money printing, land, education, ifrastructure, education, healthcare.. Reagan said if you let people, who make things, keep more of what they make and don't give it to the takers; you get more.
1
@donHooligan I do remember you and I do remember how you seem to think my comments are ad hominem directed at you... Many have similar values. Understanding how we get those outcomes takes dialog... When you feel that I have it in for you, you can't go on to imagine there is any truth in what I am evangelizing about.
1
@Peanut-sam-tha-nut Good Catch. I argue that we are losing capitalism. That capitalism, that used to be, is now known as socialism..... One person's capitalism is another person's socialism. A lot of comming to agreement is about semantics.... Most have sacred semantic cows but similar values.
1
@bobsmith3983 Socialize also the risk after privitizing the proffits as well... People call it capitalism but it is more like a degeneration into feudalism and it is unstable.
1
@MundaneDave Right now if you put money on the stock market and make some bad bets the fed will cover your losses. That hikes stock market values as well as other assets... It makes living very difficult for the 'makers' as in Reagan's saying... Those who make thing...
1
@andrewreynolds912 Many who call themselves capitalists mean when they say 'capitaism' what many who call themselves socialst mean when they say 'socialism'... So what do we need?
1
@bobsmith3983 Privatize the profits socialize the losses and finachalize the commons.... It is a degeneration into a kind of feudalism... To me it ain't capitalism [to many it ain't capitalism]
1
@privatecitizen5968 The problems isn't really gread, it is the system that encurages it to be distructive.
1
@ We need socialism could be termed we need capitalism 'cause these words arn't as stable and universaly understood as you would think.... What people agree on is feudalism wasn't capitalism and capitalism was a step in the socialist direction. Some think that what we call capitalism now is a step in the feudalist direction..
1
@ I think everyone can agree that we need industrialization...
1
@donHooligan My understanding is that they dig holes on these huge flood plains where the berms are on the down side of the watter flow.... Trapping watter during the rainy season so that there is some life and a bit of a bog around the hole during the dry season... Labor intesive is what it is.
1
@donHooligan Lot of work.... My understanding is that the Chinese are building rails across the contenent and when they go through arid regions they are puting up sand stops to protect the tracks. One of those techniques is putting up botanical bariers... Perhaps some of those botanicals can be grazing fauder or something?
1
@doridore1234 It sticks with 'sky is blue' ortodoxy..
1
Deathclaw.By.Design In defence of real capitalism actually.
1
@kenwood2682 I have difficulty with spelling myself... How does it feel to type Ponzi?... Ponzi..
1
@Crapitalism There are some very basic polices that support industrialization....
1
@arnoldroquerre6912 Wolff seems like he does a lot of work obfuscating. Perhaps he's a deep state plant?
1
@arnoldroquerre6912 There are people who popularize 'leftist' ideas who not only don't respect the word 'capitalism' but they call themselves communist and have whacky ideas like 'we should end all money' .... I feel like they are deep state plants.
1
@dspirea Wolff don't describe why America is in decline... Ben Norton and Michael Hudson are better.... From Chicago
1
@tropickman If you think you can get an explination past the deleating machines, go for it.
1
@jesserobinson749 What makes a few weeks the majic number?
1
@Daniel7evens It is explained in 'Super Imprialism' ... Korean war was to get dollars in the hands of indebted WWll alies while the US was running a trade surpluss. By the end of the Korean war and during the Vietnam war the US didn't have the gold to back up the part of the dollar that it insured... Some of the tricks in 71 to back up the dollar was an agreement with the Saudis that they sell oil in dollars and 'invest' in US T-bonds... Otherwise there are many a quaint and curious a volume of forgotten lore involved...
