  1. It could also be a cultural thing. In the asian world ghosts are something real and something taken seriously. My chinese wife did have a close friend that died of cancer when she was 30. On her grave someone has placed her favorit handbag. Even though it is an expensive red handbag noone dares to steal it because then they are convinced that the ghost of this woman will hunt them down.
