If you are on your own or in a small gathering you might find something to eat and build a simple shelter but when 11000 men are trying to do the same then things become really difficult.

@Vaeldarg It is called communism and a nationalistic people that regard mainland china as the only country in the world. It is actually the same thing with chilli, garlic and ginger. None of those spicy vegetables are chinese but in mainland china they are regarded as such. My point though are that you are able to grow corn almost everywhere including on top of a mountain.

Since it takes something like 2 minutes in a microwave to cook oatmeal to porridge and top it with some milk and applepoure it is still a staple food now a days. I guess it took longer time back in the 18th century because you needed to have that fire started.

Seems like the british used their american colonies like their colonies in Australia. As somewhere to dump their unwanted population. Little did they know about the events that should end up in the independence of USA 1776.

To discard the eggwhites in a survival situation doesnt seem right to me.

In italy women has done pasta for centuries before Thomas Jefferson experienced it. They didnt use any machines but rather simple rolling pins and thats how they are made even today in Italy.

Exactly like now a days UK the politcal elite implements laws to fund there own corruption. As usual it is the working class that have to pay for it. Nothing has really changed in that regard the last 300 years.

A dutch immigrant to USA during the 18th century said "Give me a dutch oven and i will be able to cook anything in it".
1
When i visit my mother in law in China she are using a combination of a gasburner and coal briquettes when cooking. She prefer to use the coal because it is way cheaper but it is like if the oxygen dissapears in the ktichen because it becomes more difficult to breathe in their.
1
Members of parlament was complaining about students having too much time in the coffeehouses during the 17th century. As usual the political elite doesnt like it when people have time to talk about their corruption and bad decisions.

Since americans always seems to have prefered anything from france or italy. My guess is that Bourbon which are a french name seemed more fancy than whisky so thats where it got its name from. Perhaps Bourbon are derived from Bourgogne that are an actual province in france. Besides Bourbon are also an caribean island and a kind of coffee.
