Even Australia supported a UN resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza. Purely because the US told it to, Australia had attacked Vietnam, Korea, and Iraq, countries that had never done anything to Australia and were never going to.. For that matter, countries that had never done anything to the USA and were never going to. Countries that were attacked purely to boost US power and/or wealth. Australia has agreed to attack China if the US tells it to. However even Australia has FINALLY drawn the line at refusing to support a UN resolution to end repeated and ongoing civilian massacres.

I really do object to this mealy-mouthed analysis of what's happening in Gaza. Ben Rhodes is fretting that civilian massacres might not be in Israel's best interests and calling for "an acknowledgement of differences with Bibi Netanyahu". I cannot find the words to express how insufficient and insulting in its inadequacy this is. "Right wing" is an appalling phrase when used to describe what is actually fascism. "Humanitarian situation" and "human catastrophe" are appalling phrases when used to describe what is actually ethnic cleansing and genocide.

@jmhorange This a Youtube channel for politically influential people in the country that is responsible for the massacres. Funded them, armed them, provided political and military coverage for them, and continues to veto a UN resolution calling for them to end. And yes, I am asking Americans to face what they're doing.

@jmhorange Here's a civics lesson for you. In the US, people can indeed see how their Representatives vote. And yes, Congressional representatives are frequently both blackmailed and forced to vote a certain way. That blackmail of Congressional representatives is not illegal is a major reason for where the US finds itself today.

The killing of cameraman Samer Abudaqa in Gaza is being referred to the International Criminal Court (ICC). Abudaqa was killed by an Israeli drone attack on Friday while reporting on an earlier bombing of a school used as a shelter for displaced people in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Biden on Christmas Eve - I had a long private conversation with Netanyahu. No I did not ask for a cease-fire.

Genocide with plausible (to those who desperately want to be fooled) deniability is still genocide.

It's not too late for Biden to fall on his sword politically and lend his considerable domestic policy credibility to a Democrat presidential candidate who isn't tainted by Biden's vigorous personal support for foreign wars.

Of course Russia wants peace. This war is killing its young men and draining its resources. It doesn't want an Amercian-controlled country at its back doorstep. Ukraine has far, far, more in common culturally with Russia than with the West. Zelensky should never have brought this war to Ukraine. And the whole world is sick to death of funding US Supremacy gambits. Your wars push up prices all over the world.

His predecessor was gotten rid of another way. From Wikipedia (with references provided) "In July 1995, Netanyahu led a mock funeral procession featuring a coffin and hangman's noose at an anti-Rabin rally where protesters chanted, "Death to Rabin". The chief of internal security, Carmi Gillon, then alerted Netanyahu of a plot on Rabin's life and asked him to moderate the protests' rhetoric, which Netanyahu declined to do." Rabin was assassinated a few months later. None of which seems to have particularly bothered the Israelis who proceeded to elect Netanyahu as their Prime Minister. Not as if they didn't know what they were getting.

Answers in order: [Ukraine] Does it matter? They've served their purpose and no People will die. [Russia] Russia is certainly weakened, which is why the US is doing everything it can to prolong the war in Ukraine as long as possible. And no People are being killed. Just a few hundred thousand Russians and Ukrainians. [Israel] Israel of all countries is aware that a holocaust doesn't eliminate terrorist opposition. (Google Abba Kovner who planned to poison 6 million Germans after WWII) However they are not just committing this one in retaliation. They want to expand their territory. [American anti-zionism] Not really a thing. However acceptance of Zionism being reinforced by NO MATTER WHAT means may be waning. Last I heard there was little to no American objection to its continued enforcement by burning out Palestinian civilians to make room for more Jewish settlers.

@allancarey2604 IMHO Australia forfeited its credibility when it attacked Iraq and is largely viewed on the world stage as a US lap dog.

Ukraine is the only proxy in that war. A proxy for the country that's doing the most to fund, arm, and provide intelligence and political support for it, so long as they can make the war last.
