What Ben is actually talking about isn't Ukraine; it's the Zelensky regime. The regime that does not allow any men between the ages of 18 and 60 to leave the country. Led by the man who decided to push for joining NATO knowing that Russia would never stand by and allow that, and furthermore knowing that Russia is currently led by a ruthless, cold-blooded killer. The Zelensky who gets paraded about by the US at their whim. His future in his own country when this war ends looks pretty grim.

16:10 J.D. Vance on Ukraine. Making absolute sense about ending the war in Ukraine because it's killing them and destroying their country. Well, as close as his offensively sick American-centred world view can ever GET to sense. His argument isn't that Ukrainian death and destruction is a bad thing in and of itself, but that it will eventually cost the US even MORE money in addition to that already poured into weapons for the war. And of course, just as in Gaza, it is NOT the responsibility of the US to end the death and destruction. Merely to stop facilitating and prolonging it. Ben Rhodes and Tommy Vietor have both been pushing this war as hard as they can since its commencement. Their response to Vance is a weird mixture of personal criticism sprinkled with admissions that his argument makes sense. I strongly object to ceasing to prolong the war indefinitely being characterized by Ben Rhodes as "cutting off Ukraine". I also object to his idea that the US should be deciding the terms on which Ukraine gets to end the war.
