  1. Tariffs are, among other things, a means of moving money from the public to the oligarchs. It isn't only the cost of imported goods that rises. The US companies that manufacture those goods raise their prices because the competition is gone.

  2. The domino theory as applied to Russia is mainly an American invention. Well, also a veneer that the NATO governments and the EU employ to justify doing what the US told them to do, which this time was joining the American war against Russia with both military and economic weapons. In fact the opposite domino theory is in play. It's NATO and the EU that have being implementing American policy to advance eastwards towards Russia; it was never going to happen that Russia would stand back permit US controlled (via NATO) military bases at their strategic back-door.
