Towards the beginning of this century a small group of people decided to target three of an enemy country's major centres - their political centre, their military centre, and their financial centre. They didn't reach the military centre but they hit the political centre and reduced the financial centre to rubble. The attacks were extraordinarily tightly targeted and only 3,000 civilians were killed. I don't recall any US politicians, military men, or reporters, either at that time or since, discussing calculations about the value of the target vs the number of civilians killed.

  2. Anderson Cooper's observations of Hamas brutality towards other Palestinians when he was reporting from Gaza was an eye-opener. However I seriously doubt he observed anything the Israeli government wasn't already aware of. Which is yet another reason to question the Israeli government's close cooperation with, including funding of, Hamas. The TImes of Israel says Netanyahu propped up Hamas for years. Hareetz characterizes his relationship with Hamas as an alliance. It seems that some of the darkest happenings in Palestine can not just be seen on the streets.
