  1. It's also to do with music being more or less free and not being something you own. A computer file is easy to copy easy to send or download, so it's a bit like water, we need it but it's everywhere and basically free so we don't think much about it. When you had to go to work and spend your money buying maybe one record, which was a thing you could hold, and came with artwork and you picked that one record and that was it until next week when you bought another one, one 45 or one album a week, that meant you also listened to it...often and treasured it. Now music is a disposable item, easy to make, easy to obtain, easy to consume, and easy to throw away.
