Nonsense Simon, I lived in France for many years, I had a few racist encounters and a bit of resentment but not many, for the most part the French were very grateful that we helped them. They feel that the bombings of Brest and St Nazaire were justified. We also helped them a lot too like Operation Jericho where Mosquitoes precision bombed a Prison in Amiens, demolishing the outer wall to allow resistance fighters to escape. De Gaulle and Winston didn't see eye to eye to put it politely, indeed Churchill rearranged his funeral so that his coffin would leave from Waterloo Station because he knew De Gaulle would be there, having lived in London for most of the war De Gaulle knew how the British State worked and knew we weren't compatible with Europe and wouldn't fit in. Britain has always been amenable to creating alliances to keep the tyrants down, we sided with the Germans against Napoleon and the French against the Kaiser and Hitler.
