Having listened to him for so many years on the ruined BBC, the words that comes to mind when I hear Hislop is negative sneering.  That, from memory, is all I have ever heard the creature do.  Sneer. That is the sum total of it. He is not funny, he is just deeply unpleasant, repetitive, bitter.
