  1. I have long thought he would attack before he is fully defeated in Ukraine. I have also thought for some time that he would do what his media folk suggest - he would attack Britian with a substantial nuclear strike. Why would he do this? Well, Putin has read his US MAD doctrine, and knows what Khan / Hudson and others have written on the matter. He will know that the US posited the idea of the Europeans (including the UK) absorbing deaths to the level of 400-450 millions whilst the US destroys the Russian system in its entirely, whilst the US survives with losses of the order of 100 million. Grotesque as these musings sound, the central message was that Europe/UK was the expendable element. Therefore article 5 sounds shaky, If he attacks the UK - and nowhere else - when his regime and therefore life - is fully threatened by similar KGB types and worse, he gambles that the US would act as per the above doctrine, and NOT attack the Russians directly, thus allowing the UK to be attacked and not reciprocating. Then Europe would fold. President Biden denied he would allow it specifically yesterday, but Biden is not in the Kremlin, facing murder from others, and with a finger on the Russian button. SO Should Truss stop acting as the unpaid shock-absorber for the USA? I would say, obviously, yes to that. But she is too limited to understand anything at all. If the Europeans are not acting as the US trip wire and the Russians have acknowledged that, then the message for the UK should be - do nothing more unless the US is on the ground, fully engaged, and leading in all aspects of Ukraine. In reality the US is way back. Thus the UK should now disengage. If they value their cities.
