Yanis identifies a reality for Europe which in no small measure has come from the relative economic success of both China and the U.S. integration their economies.
From 1993 to 2023, a period of 30 years, the US economy grew by 120% in other words it more than doubled insize, with a dozen new globally domination get hnologies, now to add to that with AI.
In the same period the E U grew by 30%. A pathetic and internally destructive socialist controlled super sluggishness.
The EU has generated no new globally dominating technologies.
I fear Europe is becoming what Africa was in the 70s 80s 90s, that is the powerless zone the great military powers war over. Not only Ukraine. The whole of it.
To stop this, the EU has to choose between the Chinese power, thus reducing risk from Russia nd the thugocracy, or the USA and hope it will act as a reliable long term active guarantor of safety.
Neutrality?
How does that work?
I am not convinced, even if Europe tries to arm as it did in prior periods.
It is geopolitically weak, and getting much weaker.
