The real facts are these. Sunak was given the job as PM by fellow lefty tory MPs and Braverman backed him on the understanding that he did what the electorate wanted him to do. This was reducing the massive legal migration and stopping the boats. To those things he needed to do X and Y so he is now trying to do what he should have done a year ago which means he didn’t want to do but now knows he has to do it.
