  2. China & Taiwan aren't going to fight each other, they're each using the stereotypical Chinese tactic of just waiting. Notionally China & Taiwan are one country but with 2 governments, each expecting to control the whole combined territory. Taipei governs Imperial China (Republic of China) & Beijing governs Revolutionary China (People's Republic of China), both are expecting the other to collapse at which point they'll just walk in & recombine the 2 administrations without any drama or bloodshed. This situation has held since the Revolution in 1949.
