@lozoft9 "gas" was supposedly cleaner, whether fracked or not. It is cleaner too – when you spill it gas mostly evaporates rather than leaving thick black sludge.

@iancormie9916 batteries have existed for around 3,000 years now so they're quite a recent innovation but please at least try to keep up.

The "war on drugs" & the anti-war protest movement are intrinsically linked through a perception that "hippies" are/were the centre of the anti-war movement (the Vietnam war at the time) & that they were also the main recreational users of drugs. The reality was/is very different, "hippies" were the scapegoat just as "immigrants" are today, the anti-war movement comes from a population-wide feeling that blowing up millions of foreigners for no substantial reason is generally 'a bad thing' & the recreational use of drugs pre-dates "hippies" by millennia, it's not even limited to humans or even mammals, birds & insects 'do drugs' too & I've even seen it suggested microbes do too.
