wave energy is a different field to tidal, equally valid but not the topic under discussion.

No, this one is quite young, it started in the 1850s. It would have sputtered out by now if Britain hadn't disarmed one side & armed the other when it joined the fray in 1920 bringing hundreds of thousands of new participants.

@calebbearup4282 I think the 1850s may have been slightly before WWII

@calebbearup4282 religious conflicts between different religions aren't a major issue in Arabia. There's occasionally flare-ups between different sects of one religion but not between religions. Israel isn't about religion anyway, despite the propaganda, the fact they've only ever had one practicing Jew as Prime Minister (the last one, Naftali Bennett) is a good demonstration of that.

@calebbearup4282 all the Abrahamic religions were born in Palestine & there have been Jews there ever since. These religions are updates on previous ones which is why Islam is the most popular.

@calebbearup4282 try watching the movie Farha, it's a dramatization of one of the events. I can't watch it right through, it's too upsetting.

@alberthartl8885 heat recovery is generally part of Passivhaus – it is on domestic scale right now.

@TwoBitDaVinci agreed but please stop using title screens that imply that the current vaporware is something you can find in Lowes.

12:48 wasn't the Texas energy shutdown a couple of years ago because the crud in gas supply pipes froze? -- Gas pipes are not clean! They're not even much cleaner than oil pipes.

@TwoBitDaVinci in your talk you don't note that tides peak at different times in different places with high tide occurring somewhere throughout the entirety of our 24 hour day. Transmission lines seem to be the solution to variability.

@dianapennepacker6854 an investor's first thought is that aquaponics is a 1960s fad that's now only used for illegal drugs so they're not interested which means that if you do get up & running, when something expensive breaks your business has collapsed before you find funding for the replacement part. Economics & its fads, not science or agriculture, is what's killed aquaponics.

There's lots of different ways of doing Stirling cycle, some are bigger than others.

@H0mework that's why most countries got together at the UN a couple of years ago & banned nuclear weapons outright. Well, apart from the 11 countries that already have the things.

I wouldn't trust a thankful of compressed/liquefied air much beyond about a decade, maybe two decades, I don't know if that helps?

@garethbaus5471 Most of Europe & some of north-west Asia have reduced energy consumption since 1965 according to Our World in Data but everywhere else has dramatically increased (up to 40x in some countries) so we consumed 165,320 TWh just in primary-source electricity last year. How much area at 500W/m² would we need to collect that amount of energy? (allowing for losses).

this seems to work by freezing & thawing the working fluid, albeit by desalination. I'm fairly sure it would adapt to different climates.

@trapfethen refrigerators & HVAC cycle on & off...

@Bot.number.69420 a AA battery, technically, isn't a battery, it's a cell. A battery is a collection of cells & 'cells' could be anything, for any purpose, down the road from here is a fort that, when operational, was a battery because it had lots of guns. Isn't language fun sometimes?

As I understand it, it was the Romans who kicked the Jews out, the Torah is part of both Christian & Muslim holy text, I don't see why they would kick it's writers out. The people of the Holy Lands don't behave like Europeans.
1
True but we live in a world of misinformation, disinformation & propaganda, a world of lies, so most people will pick the side that continues the horror.

@TwoBitDaVinci or reversing pump

My solar setup is giving around 150Wh a day this week & the battery is hitting the low-Voltage trip every night.
