The '70s "higher taxes" was in no way "higher"!! "The highest rate of income tax peaked in the Second World War at 99.25%. This was slightly reduced after the war and was around 97.5 per cent (nineteen shillings and sixpence in the pound) through the 1950s and 1960s.[10] Tax revenues as a percentage of GDP for the UK in comparison to the OECD and the EU 15 In 1971, the top rate of income tax on earned income was cut to 75%. A surcharge of 15% on investment income kept the overall top rate on that income at 90%. In 1974 the top tax rate on earned income was again raised, to 83%. With the investment income surcharge this raised the overall top rate on investment income to 98%, the highest permanent rate since the war. This applied to incomes over £20,000 (equivalent to £263,269 in 2023 terms).[3] In 1974, around 750,000 people paid the higher (but not necessarily the top) rate of income tax.[11]" -- Wikipedia

"Exodus of wealth" is fiction, just think about it, where exactly is that wealth? It's not stuffed under billionaire's mattresses! It's invested in assets, immobile assets – if you own Tottenham Court Road how do you pick it up & move it to the Caymans? And even if you manage it what value is it without the rest of London & its airports surrounding it?

UK security is breached most days, it's often called cyber-crime, occasionally it's called cyber-war.

@skipperclinton1087 British defense contractors can't be "rebuilt" because they're already market leaders.

@WarrenPeacenik Russia has been attacking UK for decades, with cyber & propaganda not bombs & tanks.

What you've missed is that Government, Media & Tufton Street aren't going to go anywhere near MMT but this speaks their language even if they won't like the message.
1
But that's totally against the Neoliberal "small government" model that Thatcher left us with!

Where are you getting "75k" from? It's not in the video.

The rest of what you say is unevidenced too.

It took Yemen, YEMEN, less than a year to develop & fire hypersonic missiles that US/UK still haven't managed to make – the problem isn't money or skilled designers, the problem is corruption!

Income Tax was introduced in the UK in 1799, prior to that ALL taxes were wealth taxes! Income Tax was a short-term measure specifically to pay for fighting Napoleon & it was stopped immediately the war was over. It was re-introduced in 1860 & is re-introduced every year since because it's a temporary tax -- the basis of British tax is wealth taxes.

Professor Richard Murphy is employed by a university -- he's not well paid!

Companies don't move to Eire for tax reasons, they do it because Eire is in the EU & because it has easier regulations! If they only want less tax they go to the Isle of Man, Channel Islands or the British Overseas Territories (most famously the Caymans).

You're wrong on every point but I can't be bothered with you.

Who do you work for, Tufton Street or the MSM? 😂

I'm sure they would love to pay their fair share, since Blair they've been paying well over 80% & with no allowances.
