@nigeljohnson9820 for the UK leaving the ECHR would be pretty meaningless legally because we're still signed up to the UN's Human Rights & the only way out of that is the leave the UN. Leaving the ECHR would be enormously damaging politically & we could expect no new trade deals & the few we've got now could well be cancelled.

This expanded in the European Convention on Human Rights & expanded further in the 1951 Refugee Convention, all of which we were happily signed up to until the Torys got in in 2010 (we even wrote most of it). Then everything went to pot.
