The hereditaries are elected from a pool of 810 Peers of the Realm & bishops from however many thousands of the Church of England & if enough aren't elected the seats aren't filled (I don't think it's happened for long but it's theoretically possible). They're all there on merit.

They sort-of tolerated it before Thatcher but she went straight to it chipping bits off, she sold off cleaning, catering & porters, now there's MRSA, inadequate meals & patients waiting hours to be moved. Every hospital had convalescent homes, even before the NHS, to prevent 'bed blocking', now they're all gone. More bits are sold off & extra layers of management added all the time, it's now an incredibly expensive mess when it used to be a beautifully streamlined machine.

What is needed is a way to get them to step up for the role they signed up for & actually minister to the needs of the people they're paid (handsomely) to look after. Altogether too many GPs seem to grift like politicians leaving the rest to do the actual work of making people healthy again. Probably the first clue is the number of practices which have sold out to American "health" companies while still hanging an NHS banner on their door.

They too behaved themselves while here but their son became the Manchester Bomber. My strong suspicion is that the problem was the MI6 involvement not their refugee status though this needs to be investigated & discussed. As far as I know all other terrorists here have either been born here or came here on specific missions to conduct their crime. Refugees don't act as terrorists here.

Due to Government policies we have more & more millionaires who can buy land just to preserve its biodiversity but I'm only aware of one who actually does – the King. Open borders, historically, have worked absolutely fine. We did have mechanisms for ejecting undesirables but the vast majority of those ejected weren't immigrants, if immigrants transgressed laws they were dealt with in the same way as anyone else (often by hanging).

We have 250 airports, 250 seaports (plus private airfields & docks) & an estimated (Ordnance Survey) 11,000 miles of coastline to be monitored by less than 9,000 border staff spread across shifts (3 I think). Bearing in mind that several places (eg Dover docks, Heathrow, Immingham etc) require concentrations of very large numbers of staff I think it's fair to assume our border is pretty porous. Dover has 14,000 vehicle movements a day, any of which could (& often do) have stowaways or deliberately concealed people (though anyone with sense would pick a less policed route). The staff aim to check around 1% of vehicles & that check can be cursory when they're busy. Border patrols are wildly expensive & not very effective, it's better to leave the border open & leave the Police to deal with wrongdoing as it occurs.

BBC shows a fairly clear single-frame still & video which seems to show the missile across 3 maybe 4 frames

The Russians rocked up at the power station & accompanying staff town with tanks, artillery & missile launchers in early March. There were videos on all news channels at the time. The unarmoured vehicles they hid inside buildings. They have been using it as a base to launch assaults ever since including, seemingly, striking the reactor buildings themselves because the Ukrainian artillery are too accurate to miss by that distance. Russia has been warned that a breach of nuclear containment would constitute an automatic breach of Article 5 of the NATO Treaty which would require a direct military response from NATO.

My guess is they've found a bug, a badly-written part of the firmware, whereby a specially coded message can make the device either short the battery out or accept the next message as a command, one which in this case would short the battery out causing it to explode. (An explosion is just a very fast fire). It's also possible the manufacturer left a 'backdoor' into the device (perhaps to switch it off if the customer didn't pay the bill) this is a very common place to find bugs because the manufacturer only expects their engineers to know about it. Have you noticed that every time you connect your computer to the internet the first thing it does is download a bunch of 'updates'? Almost all of these updates are to patch over bugs, most of which respond to specially-written messages & most of them let an attacker into your computer. Pagers are much simpler than computers so there's less scope for bugs but against that you can't plug them into the internet to get updates so any bug that is there is there forever.
