0:56 they didn't disband, Haganah became the IDF, Irgun became Menachim Begin's Party Herut & Lehi became Netanyahu's Party Likud.

...& went on to form the Likud political party. Netanyahu's party.

@DemozVisti you missed a bit – when they couldn't behave themselves God threw them out again & banned them from forming another nation.

You keep saying "Jewish", Israel was never a Jewish project, it has always, from the first World Zionist Conference in 1897, been Zionist, a secular organization which seeks to disguise itself as Jewish. In reality more of it's members are American Evangelical Christians than Jews & most are secular. Only one Prime Minister ever, Naftali Bennett, has been a practicing Jew & he only lasted a year.

@TBD3.0 and then Lehi became the Likud political party, Netanyahu's party.

Just remember it's a video so lots of important details are missing. They've captured the general theme though.

11:40 Haganah & Lehi didn't back out, they were just mired in wranglings about the timing, Irgun was impatient & did it without them.

He should know, he was Prime Minister representing the political party they formed.

Zionists not Jews

@Savldj no, the Zionists were invading. They're still invading now.

@Kingrich_777 "it's funny how you forgot to mention" that the settlements you describe were all on stolen land, usually stolen with an accompanying massacre. The Palestinians have never had a problem with Jews as a whole, they're fundamentally upset with Zionists though.

10:06 Jerusalem & Tel Aviv-Jaffa aren't far apart

@Kingrich_777 Haganah was created to defend land Zionists had stolen at gunpoint, often killing those who resisted. For example most of the kibbutzes are built on razed Palestinian villages, built there because of established wells. Tel Aviv in the Eyalet of Gaza was one of very very few Israeli places founded on genuinely empty land, it was initially built in the dunes beside the port town of Jaffa after the Zionists got themselves kicked out of town. It didn't need Haganah to defend it because it wasn't under attack because it wasn't on stolen land.

@jaxsonlogan7261 the 3 gangs held a Press conference in 1948 (May 2nd?) to declare their Statehood, this seems to have triggered the name changes.
