  1. 27:03 ooh, that brings back memories :-) I haven't had a boiled burger in years, they were done in a waterbath much like a bain marie but with the meat directly in the water. Maybe a dozen burgers stacked in a frame lowered into the water & half a dozen frames.

  3. 0:40 the joint on the left I would expect in cheap Indian tourist goods (craftsman carved face banged together with a couple of cheap nails) & the scarf joint on the right can be found all over England (& probably Europe) in timber-framed buildings, albeit usually with a separate peg rather than the dovetail. The difference here is whether or not it belongs to a throwaway culture not whether it's Eastern or Western. 1:33 similarly, both "joints" can be found East & West and again it's "bash it together quick" vs quality workmanship.

  4. 24:32 I find "schmetterling" an evocative & beautiful word when spoken gently, slightly prettier than "flutter-by" (the original of butterfly).
