@rtqii the first working thorium reactor was built in the 1940s, it was abandoned because it's too difficult to get plutonium out of it.

Stored waste can be managed to be hot enough for district heating for hundreds of years, across most cities worldwide, (yes with heat exchangers that block the radiation so it's safe) but as @transistor754 demonstrates above, there would need to be public discussion.

The American language is only loosely based on English, in particular it has a lot of confusion around the use of negatives. For example, "do" & "don't" or "can" & "can't" seem indistinguishable to Americans.
