@onomonopoeia Because the entitled minority, with connections, doesn't like the thought of a more democratic Israeli, where the "baboons" of Likud have an equal voice, and equal opportunity. That right, those protesting call Israelis from Arab lands, and religious Jews, baboons. And all the best positions in the military, the police, the courts, the prosecutors office, and any governmental or quasi-governmental agency you can think of, only go to Ashkenazim from the 'right' (formerly communist) families. There is some serious racism, coming from those demonstrators, against any Jew from Asia or Africa. They are much like the white southerners who were against school integration. What is hysterical, is they claim judicial reform will hurt gay people, and yet Ohana, the Speaker Netanyahu named, is a gay man.

Perhaps, but in the US judges don't select their replacements, so that the ideology of the court can never change, as in Israel. Litigants need standing, to bring a case, unlike in Israel. The Supreme Court can only overturn laws if they can demonstrate they are unconstitutional, unlike in Israel, where there is no constitution, and laws are overturned based upon personal prejudices. And, in the US, a committee made up of past and present judges don't get to appoint the AG, and all governmental legal advisors. And members of the US government are allowed to ignore advise, advisors don't have the last say, as in Israel.
