  3. Excellent analysis and use of Rand's reasoning. My late brother was a drug addict, and thought the entire family should do everything for him, without ever offering anything back. After years of bumming off my parents, my father decided he'd pay for his apartment, but not give him money for food, because he always spent it on drugs. So, he came to me, demanding I give him money. I had put myself through college, was married, and raising two children. I told him, "No!", my resources were going towards my kids, not him. He became abusive, then threatened to kill himself. He called and harassed me every day. Later, when I was going through chemo for cancer, he called me, telling me I was a fool for enduring chemo, that if I only gave him some money, he'd get me ketamine, which would cure my cancer. He also demanded I give him some of my pain medications. What a horrible thing to do to a person enduring extreme pain. At that point I cut off all ties to him. Yes, drug addicts are narcissists, who think only of themselves, and have no compassion for others, yet demand unending compassion and support from others.

  4. Secular and Reform Jews have substituted Tikkun Olam for actual Jewish beliefs, and tend to be on the left. But, Orthodox and many Conservative Jews, who have a stronger attachment to our homeland, and understand our history, tend to be on the right. Sadly, Jewish Federation and the JDL have been captured by the left, and they put themselves out as representatives of all Jews, when they really aren't. If you want to be around Jews with a more realistic outlook, may I suggest Chabad.

When they were little, I was told to not give them peanut butter., to avoid peanut allergies Having studied immunology in university, this seemed utterly backwards. People seldom develop allergies to those things they are exposed to in utero or as babies. So, I politely nodded, and ate peanuts when pregnant, then fed my children peanut better almost as soon as they were weaned. No peanut allergies. My daughter gives her young sons Bamba, to prevent peanut allergies.

Anyone, who has taken immunology, should know that even fetuses have adaptive immune systems. While it is true, that breastfed infants get IgA from their mothers, it is also true that neonates and fetuses, have fully functioning B and T cells, and can develop immunity to specific antigens, through vaccines. If this absolute falsehood is the basis of his antipathy to vaccination, he is a fool.
