  11. I'm an old woman, who grew up in a Republican household. One of the reasons my parents were GOP was the Democrats, being the party of most Catholics, was anti-abortion, while the GOP was for staying out of people's personal decisions. The Republican party used to believe abortion was a personal medical decision, and the government shouldn't interfere. If they returned to that sensible position, Republicans could easily beat Democrats.

The barrage of rockets, being fired on Israeli civilians, may be a bit more constant than usual, but this is what Israelis have dealt with since they mistakenly withdrew, from the Israeli communities of Gush Katif, the historically Jewish territory of Gaza. I stayed in Ashkelon for a month, and not a day went by, that there wasn't rocket fire on the city. There is a reason every home built has to have a mamad, a safe room. If not for the shelters and Iron Dome, there would have been many innocent civilians wounded or dead these past 18 years.

  24. Too many companies use H1B visas to get cheap, not better, computer programmers. I remember seeing an ad for a programmer, requiring 5 years experience in a language that had only been around for 3 years. I showed it to my then husband, and asked why they had an impossible requirement, and he told me the company just did it, so they could later hire a cheaper coder from overseas. He later told me the position had been filled, with an Indian programmer with no experience in the required language, none. There needs to be better oversight, to guarantee that companies really can't find US workers with the needed skill set.

  28. Employers are supposed to advertise for employees, to fill a position, locally, before they bring in an H1B worker. But, the qualifications advertised are often impossible, like requiring 5 years experience in a computer language that only was released 3 years before. But, the foreign worker doesn't have to have the qualifications, and seldom does. Not only should the foreign worker be held to the same standard, as the American applicants, but there should be enforcement, to make sure companies aren't cheating like this.

  48. Pneumonia describes the presentation of the disease, fluid in the lungs, not the cause. Only pneumonia caused by bacteria can be treated with antibiotics. Viral pneumonia, which is more common, can't. The real question is, what is the infectious agent?
