  1.  @acun4075  The crisis started under Reagan. The US used to impose punitive fines on those who employed illegal workers. Reagan, to satisfy rich corporations, removed those fines. I lived in LA at the time, and it was astounding how many people suddenly appeared, who could not speak English. Another stupid thing, the US did, that has led to this crisis, was the Mexico City convention, that does not allow US tax dollars to go to help fund family planning in Latin America. When a region has more people than it can support, what will those people do? Move somewhere where the population pressure is not as great. We could end this border crisis if we just undid the Mexico City convention, resumed punishing fine on the scofflaw employers who hire illegal workers, and realized that prohibition does not work, and ended the "War on Drugs".
