@stephaniemarie5845 Who gets to decide if you are smart enough to drive a car? Nobody, you are given a test. The same should happen with guns, only not only should there be a test, but also a background check.

@Darren Scott Can you not see the difference between a semi-automatic weapon and musket? Do you think we had the same type of weapons when this country began? It is not that nobody ever assassinated anyone before, it is just that the assassins have larger magazines today. Other countries have crazy, hateful people in them. But, those dangerous types are not allowed a gun.

@gregorybuell8637 Not since the War of 1812, when the White House was fired, has the capitol been attacked. Prior to the Mexican-American War, we had Mexican banditos raiding Californian cities. There were also a few Japanese incursions on the Pacific coast during WWII. Otherwise, well put.

It doesn't matter what gun control laws a state or city has, when guns are freely available to all the next state or city over. Look at Gilroy, CA. The insane killer couldn't buy a gun in California, so he went to Nevada for his dangerous weapon. Look at Chicago, most of the guns killing people in that city come from Indiana. Pointing at a place with sensible gun control, where an atrocity has been committed with a gun purchased elsewhere, is completely disingenuous. We need strong national gun control and background checks. And, we need a searchable database of guns, and the CDC must be allowed to compile gun damage statistics.
