Manchin supports the John Lewis Voting Rights Bill, but HR1 is just too extreme for him, because it has many features that have nothing to do with voting rights. Why let perfect be the enemy of the good once again? Why not just protect the right to vote, for everyone, with the John Lewis bill?

No, we are divided by the extremists, in both parties, not by those willing to reach across the aisle.

@jasonmilton Voting rights are protected by the John Lewis Voting Rights bill, HR4. Manchin, and many centrist Democrats and Republicans are willing to pass HR4 But progressives are pushing HR1, which has many provisions that have nothing to do with the right to vote, and are unpopular with Manchin's constituents, and much of the country. If Democratic Senators really wanted to protect voting rights, they would pass HR4. Instead they keep hammering on HR1, knowing they can't win, to make a statement.

@jasonmilton Manchin and Sinema are willing to protect voting rights with HR4, the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, HR4. They are also more than willing to vote for a true infrastructure act, just not something with every dream on the progressive wish list. If the Senate really wants to protect voting rights, why isn't HR4 being brought before it?

And centrists of both parties are willing to vote for infrastructure, just not a bill with every non-infrastructure progressive dream tossed in.
