Prior to Reagan, employers who hired workers who were here illegally were heavily fined. There was also a much more robust guest worker program. There was no talk of building an expensive, useless wall because there was not a problem. Reagan wanted businesses to have cheap labor, so quit punishing those scofflaw employers. Despite his political start as head of SAG, he was a union buster. A lot of the disparity of wealth, in this country, is his fault. He is really not the right person to glorify.
