It's the middle east, of course it is complicated. Turkey became a member of NATO when it was a modern, secular country, but under Erdogan that secularism is over. Erdogan wants to rebuild the Ottoman Empire, and the existence of Kurds, and the possible formation of a free Kurdistan, stands in his way. Russia has aligned with Syria, in their genocide against Kurds and Sunni Muslims, and controls Syrian airspace. Iran is backing the Shiite terrorist militias, they have stationed in Syria, that aid in killing Kurds and Sunnis. Meanwhile, Turkey has given asylum to many of the Sunni Muslims fleeing genocide. By forming an alliance with Russia and Iran, Erdogan is hoping to kill remaining Kurds, and return Sunni Syrians to Syria.
