Fines, imprisonment, and parole, are all fine deterrents. There is no just reason to take a person's rights away, for the rest of their life. Once they've paid their debt to society, they should get their voting rights (and right to run for office) restored. The idea is the people won't elect a criminal. Although, of late, being a criminal is the norm, in the GOP.

The idea was always, that voters would do the vetting.

@stevepest4143 Let me also address your stupid comment about mail in voting. When one votes by mail, one has to sign the outer envelope. If the signature doesn't match the signature on file, from when one registered using ID, the ballot is rejected. If I can write a check for $100,000, and my signature serves as proof I am who I claim to be, it should suffice for voting.

@rassoul420 Do you? I just use a code.

@DuaneHallinSD Why add quotes? The word allegedly means some claim, but the claim could be disputed. The sarcasm and intent was very clear.

@stevepest4143 Why should a felon, who has served their debt to society, by serving their time and parole, and paying their fines, still be disenfranchised? I don't agree with letting incarcerated felons vote, but when they've done their time, their rights should all be restored, if just as a way to prevent recidivism.

@maddogwillie1019 Read the entire comment chain. She has already addressed this. Oh yeah, and buy a clue, she's on the same side you are.

Some states restore rights, after time is served, others don't. New Mexico restores rights.
