  1.  @FaithwalkerTodd  You're wrong. Florida has a 5.5% corporate tax. Florida also has property taxes, and Disney pays plenty of them. As to "nicer theme parks", none of then bring Florida the revenue Disney does.

  3. Exactly what problem is he supposed to "sit down and solve"? The Supreme Court has ruled that corporations have the same right to free speech, that citizens have. All Disney did was exercise that right. If DeSantis hadn't had a snit fit, it would be over and forgotten about. Instead he decided to go to battle with his state's biggest employer, biggest contributor of taxes, a bastion of Florida's economy, and a huge contributor to Republican politicians. All to be seen to do battle with woke? How stupid can one get?

  6. Did you miss the part where Florida has extended no discussion of homosexuality all the way through 12th grade? It's not just about elementary school any more. And protecting their employees and customers, with intelligent public health precautions was a good thing. Disney was right.

  7. The applicable ruling is not about cakes, it is Citizen's United, where SCOTUS ruled a corporation is a person, with freedom of speech rights.

  12. Since the Supreme Court has ruled corporations are people, what you think is valueless. And DeSantis hasn't shown either integrity or strength, just mulish stupidity. He is no match for the Mouse. This man will never be president, and if he doesn't tend to the job he has, rather than jet setting around Asia, he might find someone else wins the governorship.

  13. Why do you think Disney isn't paying their fair share, when they pay more than any other corporation? The special tax district is about controlling the environs around their park, not welshing on taxes. Getting rid of their special tax district, and having government pay for trash hauling, sewage, streets, etc. would actually save Disney money, and cost the government.
