  1. Your making a lot of assumptions. Why do you assume this home had an intercom? Why do you assume opening the door, hadn't left many neighbors victims of a home invasion. If you don't live in a high crime area, you have no idea how jumpy people are. If fewer criminals had guns, and there were fewer home invasions, the homeowner might have been less trigger happy.
