@faub3282 Long before germ theory was proposed. it was know that isolation and quarantine would stop the spread of a disease. Your contention, that it does not work, is belied by thousands of years of human knowledge. It used to be our only weapon in the fight against infectious disease. Since Koch, we've understood microbes cause infectious disease, we have added hygiene to that arsenal. And we will develop a vaccine, maybe not this year, but by next year. Vaccine development used to be hit and miss attempts to attenuate a pathogen. But, now we can recreate sections of surface antigens of a virus, or the nucleic acids that code for them, in the lab. That speeds up vaccine development. It is only the testing that must take time, to ensure that the vaccine does not have unintended deleterious consequences.
