The Oxford vaccine is a chimp adenovirus vector, with the the DNA for the Covid S1 spike protein inserted into it. They developed a similar vaccine for MERS (another coronavirus), and the immune response lasted over two years.

@joela492 Similar vaccines to similar viruses gave an immune response for at least two years. The reason that we have to take yearly flu shots is no that the immunity fades, but the antigenicity of the virus changes, as it reassembles its genetic subcomponents during coinfection. In simpler words, every year there is a different flu strain.

@joela492 Wrong again, the immune response takes several weeks to develop. First IgM is expressed, then in two to three weeks, IgG. Once again, we take yearly flu shots because there are different strains each year, not because of waning immunity. This adenovirus vectored vaccine should give at least two years immunity, after the booster shot.

Read the Lancet article, that came out today. Not only does the Oxford vaccine (a modified chimp adenovirus) evoke humoral immunity (antibodies) but cellular immunity (killer T-cells and primed phagocytes).

@justpassingthrough.808 The leader of the nation Oxford is in, is Boris Johnson, dummy!

All you nay sayers, who don't trust the vaccine, read the Lancet article. This is very promising. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)31604-4/fulltext

The vaccine is a modified adenovirus, not a drug.
