Other European nations stayed out of Hitler's invasion of Sudetenland, and the rest of Czechoslovakia. The US government provided war material to the UK. Our soldiers did not fight until Pearl Harbor. The US is now providing war material to Ukraine, but no US soldiers are involved. I see no difference.

@tombushing4907 Countries, being thwarted in their imperialist aims, is not an existential threat. Stop pretending defensive alliances threaten anyone. And you're conflating economic dominance with military control. They aren't the same thing at all.

@rogerjohnson2562 Really? What terrorist attack precipitated Russia's invasion of Ukraine. I never heard of Ukrainian terrorists flying planes into any Russian buildings, killing thousands.

Sane Americans and Europeans have similar thought processes. That's why, unless an insane demagogue takes power, we usually can cooperate. If you want people who really think differently, you'd have to look to nations where a tribal mindset still dominates. The Baltics and former Yugoslavia, and Ireland's sectarian violence, are the closest examples among us.

Yet, I doubt Putin will conquer country after country, rounding up Ukrainians, to murder them. Putin's army is committing war crimes, but this is not genocide, any more than his brutal suppression of Chechnya was.
