When India decided to produce their own vaccine, why were they so short sighted, that they did not build up the manufacturing for the needed materials, like the US and Europe did? European and American vaccine manufacturers need all those supplies themselves. You cannot expect us to put your needs before ours. This is the problem with an international supply chain, when there is shortage, the country of origin keeps what it needs. India is an advanced country, with a well developed bio-pharm industry, and could easily have started manufacture of the needed supplies. Early in the pandemic, the US learned that lesson, when the PPE from China was no longer exported to us. Why didn't Modi pay attention, and ramp up the manufacture of biobags, filters, etc.? I'm sorry that you are suffering, but you have only yourselves to blame.

Any place, where the inhabitants can get clean water and uncontaminated food, will have far fewer deaths, and most children will live to adulthood. 120 years ago, the tenements and slums of the US, were also disgusting places, with poor hygiene. Don't berate people for living in squalid conditions. They didn't ask to live that. And, hopefully, they will soon get modern sanitation.

  6. Really? There were similar reports coming from Central America. I saw video of a Venezuelan hospital where one oxygen unit had lines spreading through the courtyard, to other rooms, because so many needed it.

  8.  @michah321  Sure, normally outdoor transmission is low. But, the virus is excreted in urine and feces. If you are bathing in water, filled with urine and feces, you are likely to catch any virus the excreter had.
