I'm horrified to find he's Jewish. His family was lucky to escape to the US before the Jewish quotas were put in place. My grandfather tried desperately to get any member of his family into to the US. But, despite offering to post large bonds for them, he could not get around the extreme quota on Jewish immigrants. Two of his brother (he had 9) survived the camps. One was so broken (his wife and all his children were gone), he had to be committed. The other died in Flushing, NY. All of his children and grandchildren had been murdered by the Nazis. Miller should be gratified that his family got out.
