  1. What is despicable to me is, the police did not remove this woman when he called them. I feel very sorry for him, and nothing but disgust for her, and anyone who thinks she had a right to ruin his business, by assaulting his customers, as she did.

  2. She was assaulting passer-bys, and the cops did nothing about it. She should have been arrested, then he wouldn't have had to take matters into his own hands. There is a social contract with the police, they deal with criminals, including the criminally insane, and we don't act like vigilantes. By not removing this insane, abusive pest, who was assaulting his would-be customers, the police abrogated that compact.

  9. In Portland, they also throw their trash in to people's yards. There was a recent story about a guy in his 80s, who doesn't want to leave the home where he raised his children, where he lived with his late wife, but just can't keep up with all the garbage being dumped.

  10. In my city, Portland, it is so bad, most downtown businesses have gone bust. The city tried to house the homeless (after jacking up property taxes to pay for shelters), but most don't want to have to quit using drugs, as the shelters require. Some of the homeless are just people who've fallen on hard times, but most, like the woman who got the unwanted shower, belong in a mental institution or substance abuse clinic. I don't feel sorry for her, she had been harassing people, and should have been arrested for that. I do feel sorry for this art dealer, who might soon lose his business because of people's overreaction to his justifiable response to an impossible problem.

  13.  @parkerbolt4233  I know. Wheeler keeps promising to do something about it, and our property taxes keep going up to pay for it, yet downtown is still a disgusting pit. Maybe the disabled citizens, suing the city because the sidewalks are impassible, will get them off the streets, but I doubt it. My daughter and her husband are so sick of it, they decided to move to Sherwood. He jokes and says by moving there, with their sons, they've doubled the number of black people in Sherwood. But they are fed up. Even putting up a high fence, around their yard, they still find homeless camped out on their property sometimes. It just isn't safe.
