  1. mrbob459 That bothered me too. The last time we put a tariff on steel, we lost 200,000 jobs. With tariffs on both Fe and Al, we will lose even more. Of course there are downstream effects, detrimental ones.

  2. According to Voice of America the main countries we import steel from are, in order: Canada, Brazil, South Korea, Mexico, Russia. (Note China is not in the top five.) The main four countries we import aluminium are: Canada, Russia, U.A.E, China. (China is on the bottom of the list.) The country we are most hurting is, our ally and neighbor, Canada. If Trump is upset because of China dumping below market Al foil, impose tariffs on Chinese metal imports only. Don't penalize Canada.

  3. This is what I wondered, if the problem is with China, why are they imposing the tariffs mainly on Canada? Put a reciprocal tariff on Chinese goods and don't screw over our allies.
