  3.  @BigBadJerryRogers  Many minority groups thrive in the US, those who value education. Parents have to read to their children, and encourage their academic pursuits. You can't just turn on the TV, not read to your kids, then expect them to do well in school. AA has led to the deterioration of society. Ending this terrible practice will help heal the wounds it has caused. The next step is to take all competitive sports out of school. PE should consist of activities people can pursue alone, to maintain lifelong health benefits. Sports scholarships aren't given in other countries. That is why their colleges are more affordable, less money is wasted on sports.

  4. Finally, a good a just decision from SCOTUS. Next, take competitive sports out of schools, and end sports scholarships. Too much money, that should be spent on better facilities, like laboratories, are being wasted on fancy arenas and locker rooms. Then get rid legacy admissions. College admission should be based upon academic merit alone.

  7. No, any action, to make college admission fair, is a good one. Affirmative action has been filling colleges with unqualified students since the 1960s, and is the worst offender. It is good it is going. The next biggest problem is sports scholarships, which also admit completely unqualified students, who have to be coddled and given special classes. All sports scholarships should go. Legacy admissions are only the third biggest problem, and should be eliminated after sports scholarships are all axed.

  8. The thing is, not all German students take calculus in junior high, only the better students. And we got rid of tracking in the 1970s, as too many bitter parents were upset their little prince wasn't in the top track. We need to return to tracking, and flunking those who don't master their grade, so good students are no longer held back by lesser ones.

  11. Sotomayor is the most senior liberal justice, only because the sole male Jewish justice was strong-armed into resigning early, to unjustly give the female black justice his spot. Sort of emblematic of the type of racial discrimination and injustice being practiced, in the name of equity, rather than equality.

  13. And yet, the Compton schools were much better than the rural school I went to. My HS didn't offer any AP classes, and math only went to half a year of trig, no calculus. A guy with terrible grades and SAT scores was admitted to UCLA, based upon his color, even though his school was much better than mine. Yet, I managed to out perform him, despite my academic disadvantages, and got my degree in microbiology, while he had to transfer to a Mickey Mouse major, of poli sci, because he wasn't smart enough to handle chemistry.

  18. Oh, and BTW, I've worked with engineers, from all around the world. US and Israeli engineers are the best, not Germans. But, German and Korean engineers are better than Iranian, Indian and Vietnamese ones.

  19. Affirmative action does nothing to counter bad schools, since the worst schools are rural, not inner city. If AA was meant to make up for bad schools, rural kids would be given preference.
