@oggsmash9989 I'd rather see a basic civics comprehension requirement, than a financial barrier. While I've paid taxes every year, for the last 49 years, I realize luck has more to do with success, than hard work. But, perhaps, those who don't understand the Constitution, and how government works, shouldn't be allowed to make a choice. Require every voter pass a basic civics test, like high schoolers did in the 1970s, but have no grandfather clauses.

While voter suppression is a horrible thing, there is no proof it changes the outcome of an election. Typically, we have low voter turnout from apathy, rather than suppression. Often, when people realize others are trying to take the vote from them, they become more determined to vote, and voter turnout rises in the very groups being suppressed. The real danger is what Trump tried, but failed, to do. Have Republican legislatures send a slate of electors they chose rather than the electors the voters chose. Several states, with Republican legislatures, have already passed laws to allow them to do this next time. That is why the Electoral Count Act must be changed now, so the cannot do that.
