Sure, right after the worse problem, of sports scholarships, is ended.

robertcocco4930 Not so. Other Asians like Koreans, Indians and Jews (Israel is in Asia) will also benefit, and make up part of the 90%.

@Yourbobness We should get rid of legacy admissions. But racist set asides are a much bigger problem, and so are sports scholarships. When those are finished off, so should legacies.

@chrisk2734 Absolutely false. The OC is right. SAT scores are the best predictor of college performance, and they should be the main basis of admission. I never got any tutoring, nor did my children. And I got a perfect SAT score, and my kids came very close to perfect.

@brianzembruski5485 Urban schools, even inner city ones, are much better than rural schools. If you're going to give extra points, for going to a bad school, it should be rural kids who get AA.

@janradtke8318 Bull! Jews faced over two thousand years of discrimination and abuse, of a kind that made Jim Crow look benevolent. Yet, once given a fair chance, we thrived. Affirmative action has been perverting college admission for over sixty years. If certain races still aren't performing well, they should look to their parenting practices, like reading to their babies, and stop blaming others for their own inadequacies.

@alyssiamelange There never was a need for AA. It was a bad concept from the beginning.

Admitting a poor student to any college makes as little sense as admitting barnyard animals. Many of those, who get into colleges they aren't qualified for, for racist reasons, drop out. And so would any of the unqualified students you want to swamp US colleges with. Some people just aren't cut out for university.

I got my first corporate job when I was fourteen, so applied for my social security card at that age. The form just had a blank for race, and I wrote "human". The woman at the counter looked at me, and told me I was white. My mom then told her I was Jewish, white, native American and black, in that order (I am), but she still assigned me to "white".

Any variable, other than academic merit, is wrong, and should never by used.

That's because they benefitted from that racist program.

@RTHOM0316 He shouldn't have. But, one unqualified white idiot doesn't justify thousands of unqualified black idiots. All racial set-asides, sports scholarships and legacy admissions should be ended, in that order.

Why not make the headline more honest, Person who benefitted from racial injustice is upset injustice is ended ?

Yet, AA has hurt those minorities that value education, and make sure their children master academics. There is no good justification for admitting bad black students, rather than good Asian ones.
