  1. Yes, the whole charge is rather vague. Someone, not a major player in the family, wondered how dark the baby might be. They didn't say that a dark baby was a bad thing, they just wondered. I wondered the same thing, when my daughter was pregnant, because her husband is black. I didn't regard having dark skin a bad thing, I just wondered. He actually has lighter skin than I do, blue eyes, and dark curly hair, straighter than mine. He has his father's nose, eyebrows, ears and sex, and has dark auburn hair, but otherwise looks like a clone of his mother, the same eyes, mouth, shape of face and expressions. He's a very cute little boy, but might have been cuter with darker skin. The person wondering about their child, might have been thinking that darker skin would be better, than the easily burned skin of his ginger father.

  3. Wasn't that more because Wallace Simpson was thrice divorced, than her being American? Also her Nazi sympathizing didn't sit well with the British people.

  4.  @thetaexali9550  Black people didn't come to the UK, in significant numbers, until after WW II, and still account for only 3% of the population. So what, that a black MP wasn't elected until 1986? The first Welsh MP wasn't elected until 1966, and they have always accounted for a much more significant amount of the population.

  5. How so? I always thought the British strength lay in how they absorbed their conquerors. The Angles, the Saxons, and some Vikings invaded, got land and became as British as the Picts that came before them. The Romans conquered the land, and gave it roads and government, but became English themselves Then came the Normans; they changed the language, but were changed by the land even more. This absorption of the other, and their ways and language, is the opposite of racist.

  7.  @thetaexali9550  Septimius Serverus was born in Leptis Magna (in what is now Libya) when it was controlled by the Romans, to Roman parents. Just as Cleopatra, born to a Greek family, was not black because she was born in Africa, neither was he. It is a moot point.
