A lot of people were subjected to hazing, especially as pledges in the Greek system. They don't murder the actives. Anyway, it sounds more like he was investigated, because of a hazing incident, in which he might have been the one doing the hazing, and it was found he had lied in his college application, and lost his sports scholarship.
