  1.  Lee Neal  Be realistic. The party of the president usually loses seats, especially if the president's approval ratings are low. Most of these people are getting out, because the don't think they'll win reelection. Any Democrat, that tries to replace them, will probably fare even worse than they would have. And, it doesn't help, that Democrats in the House seem more intent of forcing an unpopular 'progressive' agenda, than actually doing something about the things that matter most, rising inflation and crime rates, and are coming down on the wrong side in most educational matters.

  2. Sure, pick a 'progressive' in the primary, and ensure the Republican will win in the general. A more realistic, moderate candidate has a better chance of winning, but ignore what the people want, push an unpopular agenda.

  3. What we need are Democrats who can win, moderates willing to compromise, not hotheads with a unpopular agenda.
